Check out Thailand’s stunning café choices

Thailand is a fairytale minefield of cute café options, themed bars and instagrammable spots. With intriguing and unique concepts throughout the country, there is one to sample no matter which part you visit. You can indulge in the sweet drinks or soak in the adjoining views and are almost guaranteed a new profile picture!

Chouxa café- Singburi

Chouxa, pronounced sugar, is just as sweet as its name. With perfectly chosen décor, picturesque seating and drinks that precede their menu pictures, it’s the ideal boujee spot for a coffee catch up. This café oozes sophistication and girl boss vibes, giving it a great atmosphere for remote working too. And as a plus, the cakes melt in your mouth and match the surrounding aesthetic.

Ma Doo Bua- Phuket

An especially popular café on the southern island of Phuket is Ma Doo Bua, made famous from photos and videos across social media. My honest review as a café- the service  was very slow to the point we could not even try the menu. However this is likely due to the vast crowds flocking in. The main attraction- the lily pads- are gorgeous. Little long boats floating through the sea of green hearts, surrounded by huts on stilts reflecting the midday sunshine.

Lavender Place- Kanchanaburi

Sway through seas of violet stretched fields, wander around the cactus village or grasp your freedom on the big swing, while looking out at the shimmering lake. This flower wonderland is a colourful step into nature. There is an 80 Baht entry fee, but you can claim this back on a drink upon entry. I opted for a red velvet cake inside a flower pot with crumbly biscuit ‘soil’.

Memory House Café- Hua Hin

Another busy café that is home to teddy bear drinks, which are super cute. The entry fee is 150 Baht in exchange for a café voucher. I got a quesadilla which was a yummy snack to fuel the photoshoot. There are two flower swings, but the best is near the exit door, as it has a misty mountain backdrop. Inside the café it was loud and crowded, but outside you can relax in the beanbags and suspended nets while viewing the tropical coloured forestry.

Unicorn Café- Bangkok

This pink and purple paradise will make you feel like you’ve been transported into a unicorn storybook. With a rainfall of plushies overhead, glittered surfaces and princess thrones, it’s the day in the life of a unicorn royal. Treat yourself to a themed dish such as waffles topped with uni-horn cones and sprinkles. This was a big portion and only cost 200 Baht (£5) and easily enjoyed by 2.

Shanni’s Top Tips

 1.    Get there early to avoid long wait times

2.    Expect to either pay an entry fee or a minimum spend

3.    Ma Doo Bua offers professional drone photography for 800 Baht for 2 people and it is totally worth it! You will get a numbered ticket and can relax until it is your time.

4.    There was a big queue for the swing at Lavender Place. Take a walk around the fields and nip back when it’s gone down.

5.     Unicorn café is busier in the afternoon when kids are not in school.
