Carnival Magic Phuket Review & Reasons you should go

Currently holding 9 World Records with another record imminent, Carnival Magic Phuket does not disappoint. Around every corner is another jaw-dropping display, bursting with light and colour! Read on to discover how to get the best from your visit.

Carnival Magic

Key information

Time: 5.30pm-11.30pm

Price: £60 with buffet £50 without

          2100 BHT/ 2500 BHT

Location: Phuket Kamala

I will be discussing the sections based on my recommendation of the order you should visit them.

Festival of Colour Street

With 40 acres to explore, arriving at 5.30pm will give you a chance to stop and stand in awe at the towering light structures and festive Jamboree Games Pavilion. For an extra charge you can also take part in carnival games for a chance to win prizes. Game stalls include, Balloon darts, Axe throwing, Ball games and more! Here you can also spectacle at the World’s Largest Papier-mâché Structure and the World’s Largest Popcorn Machine (Which they actually sell 4 flavours of popcorn out of!). For younger kids there are also small theme park rides such as Carousels, Ferris Wheels and a TukTuk track.

Carnival Magic Parade

Promptly at 7.15pm there is a small parade located on the festival of colour street, lasting 15 minutes. Filled with Energy, colour and magic it will definitely make you smile. The parade consists of Mechanical elephants, Circus acts, Dancers, Bubbles that turn to smoke and even gigantic balloons that are bounced around the audience.

Carnival Magic Buffet

If you indulged in adding the buffet to your ticket, you will experience dining in the ‘Bird of Paradise’ hall. On your ticket there will be a table number and a letter to determine if you are the left (A) or right (B) of the hall. The Seats are yellow, green, orange and blue and they serve multi coloured rice to match! Last entry is 8pm but food is served 6.30-8.30pm. During my visit they served traditional Thai food, a range of Carnival Fries, noodles, pasta and desserts. Before your visit, decide if you want to eat at 6.30pm and then see the street parade at 7.15pm or eat after the parade at 7.30pm. Either choice will give you 45 minutes in the Buffet but will help you plan to see all the other attractions.

River Palace Paradium

Carnival Magic advertises this mesmerising show as the biggest indoor parade and holds the record for longest parade float. The show’s content is top secret and so you must put all recording devices in the provided lockers before entering the palace. You will then find your assigned seat in the enormous theatre and wait for the show to commence at 8.30pm. On my visit there were 4 themed sections of floats: Thailand, Sea creatures, Mythical creatures and Royalty. Each offered something completely different, keeping you engaged for the full 50 minutes.

Festival of Light

This attraction does not open until 9.30pm, with no entry past 10.15pm. The route should take 20 minutes to walk but we took a more leisurely stroll (45mins)  to enjoy all the lights and take some fantastic photographs. Here you will find more world records such as the biggest LED structure and the biggest Chandelier. All the displays in this section are truly breath-taking. As someone who lives for natural wonders, I never thought I would be so amazed by something artificial, but the effort and maintenance that this park requires to create such a beautiful atmosphere is astonishing.

Carnival Magic ‘Toy’lets

Taking a trip to the ‘loo’ is usually an inconvenience and a time waster on Holiday activities, but here at Carnival Magic it is a main attraction. There are 3 places to discover these adventurous toilets: Near Festival of Colour street, Loo-topia in the festival of light and in the Bird of Paradise Buffet. The most spectacularly surprising are the 21 themed individual toilets near the Festival of Colour Street. Themes include: Tamagotchi, Ice Cream Parlour, Robots, Gumball machine, Snowglobe and more! You even choose your colour hand soap out of a drink dispenser! Loo-topia has bright neon colours, flashing lights and frog shaped sinks. In the buffet hall, the toilets feature the Fabled Fountain of youth. All featuring in the Instagram video.

Disappointedly, I only got to physically utilise 2 toilets. So, stay hydrated and make full use of fun themed bathrooms!

And if you find any spare time…..

Carnival Magic Shopping

Handicraft Market Bazaar- Here you can browse and buy from hand crafted stalls offering souvenirs and artwork. I bought a crochet animal teddy for my collection. You can pay easily with Cash or Card.

Zooviners- Lots of cute elephant themed souvenirs

Jewerousel- Similar to its name, you can walk around to see many different Jewelled sculptures, one of the most impressive being the tiger.

Carnival Funfair- Carnival Magic merchandise such as clothes, light up wands and even traditional Thai outfits.

Shanni’s Top Tips

  1. For pictures, where dark/black clothes as all other colours will get lost in the lights
  2. Arrive early, with so much to see you need as much time as possible
  3. Look at all the buffet food before deciding what to put on your plate (You can go as many time as you like, but it’s much better when you can enjoy everything on your plate)

Although Carnival Magic is not a low price activity, it is 100% worth it. I have never experienced an amusement park quite like it. So much magic, joy and of course bright lights!
